Measuring the local impedance within the atria is subject to many influencing factors. The quantitiy of interest, however, is the contribution of local tissue characteristics to the measured impedance. If the latter effect can be separated from others, the local impedance can conversely be used to conclude on local substrate properties.
In this thesis, we aim at identifying and quantifying involved factors and their contribution to the local impedance with simulated and clinical data. In a second step, we will assess the separability of the factors of interest and conclude on the achievable accuracy of local impedance maps. Moreover, the information gain as compared to standard clinical measures such as voltage and local activation times will be investigated.
