In this work, an alternative way of mesh handling will be implemented and applied. The partly pre-implemented Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) approach will be tailored for the current cardiac model, so that the left heart geometry will be immersed into the cartesian grid. In the valve area, a mesh refinement will be performed to allow the incorporation of a parametrical valve model. The valve control, as well as the valve parameters will be adjusted. After execut- ing a simulation, the results will be compared to the moving mesh approach. Accuracy and simulation time will be evaluated to address the question, if the 3D valve model is necessary for accurately modeling the fluid dynamic in a patient specific geometry.
