The Institute of Biomedical Engineering welcomes Mr. Julian Mierisch as a new research associate. Since August 2024, he has been working in the research group “Computational Cardiac Modeling” on model-informed machine learning for the prediction of postoperative atrial fibrillation and its targeted prevention. Synthetic data are generated and used for the development of the methodology and the training of the network. Finally, the developed method will be tested and evaluated on a patient dataset from the University Hospital Heidelberg. Julian Mierisch completed his Master’s degree in Medical Informatics at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences and the University of Heidelberg. His focus areas were Data Science and Software Engineering.
